研究内容

    医薬品の開発は、21世紀において生命科学研究の進歩に伴った技術革新が起こっています。従来の低分子やペプチド、タンパク質医薬開発は成熟化し、現在では、抗体医薬が全盛期を迎えています。現在、核酸医薬、遺伝子医薬、細胞医薬、微粒子医薬、微生物医薬などの多様化・複雑化したモダリティが医薬品として開発されています。

    複雑な次世代モダリティ(薬物)を薬剤から医薬品へと開発を進めるためには、医薬品の3要素である有効性・安全性・品質の諸問題を解析し、その問題点を論理的・総合的に克服・制御化するための技術に関する「情報」の創出する新たな学問体系の構築が必要です。一方、上市された医薬品については、適正使用のための「情報」の創出が必要です。

    このような現状を踏まえ、医薬品情報学分野では、多様化・複雑化した次世代モダリティの問題点を収集・評価・解析し、薬物、薬剤を経て「医薬品」として開発していく上での様々な問題を克服・制御化する新規技術を創りこむ「創薬研究」や医薬品の適正使用における問題を収集・評価・解析する「育薬研究」に取り組んでいます。
